Mildred M. Arthur

Mildred M. Arthur, formerly of Mt. Pocono, passed away Tuesday evening, January 29, at Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township. She was the widow of Thomas J. Arthur, Sr., who died March 4, 1978.
Born in Minooka, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Bridget (Barrett) Kearney and lived in Monroe County for the past 49 years. She was educated in Scranton public schools; worked at the Anthracite Overall Manufacturing Company and was a devoted wife and mother while her husband was in a German Prison Camp during World War II.
Millie was a devote Catholic and faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Mount Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pocono for over 40 years until her illness in 2002 when she moved to Pleasant Valley Manor.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie Zansitis and her husband Robert F., of Hillsborough, NJ; two grandchildren, Michael J. Zansitis and his wife, Marnie, of Mahwah, NJ and Robert T. Zansitis, of Branchburg, NJ; a great grandson, Evan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Arthur, Jr. on October 12, 2002; five sisters, Alice Kearney, Anna Kearney, Dorothy Cody, Clare Donahue and Frances Rossi and three brothers, Edgar Kearney, Paul Kearney and Mark Paul Kearney.
There will be a viewing on Saturday, February 2, from 9:15 to 10:15AM at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM Saturday at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Broadhead Ave. & Ridgeway St., East Stroudsburg with Father Arul as celebrant. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
