His Service Number is Private/2699; He served in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Inf, AIF. He was born at Canterbury in Sydney, New South Wales in March 1894. He enlisted at Moree in the states North West, New South Wales in July 1915. He embarked from Australia in 1915 for Egypt. (Possibly fighting at Gallipoli). He spent time in hospital for influenza in Cairo during March of 1916. He then embarked from Alexandria for France on the 25th of July 1916. He fought on the Western Front during the 1916/1917 campaign. He received a gun shot wound to the head in battle on the 6th of May 1917. He died of his wounds on the 13th May 1917. Cyril Charles is the son of Jeremiah James and Amelia Kay, of Heber St., Moree, New South Wales. (Bio by kc.byrne)
