Brian J. Kautz, 27, of Hammond and a Rochester native, died Wednesday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester of meningitis after a short illness. He had been hospitalized since Friday.
Born May 20, 1963, in Rochester, he was a 1981 graduate of John Marshall High School. Mr Kautz was a construction worker for Adjustable Joist Co. of Minnetonka and was a member of laborers union local 405. He was a member of St. Clement's Catholic Church in Hammond.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Kautz of Rochester, his father and stepmother, Jack and Dee Kautz of Hammond; two brothers, Larry of Hammond and Terry of Galesville, Wis.; two sisters, Lynette (Mrs.Rick) Bruske of Hammond and Jodene (Mrs.John) Olson of Plainview; and his paternal grandfather, Arthur Kautz of Hammond. He was preceded in death by a sister, maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St Clement's Catholic Church in Hammond with the Rev. Bernard Kerrigan officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Schleicher Funeral Home in Millville and an hour before the service Saturday at the church. The rosary will be recited a 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
