Goldie Pearl (Kaufman) Gingrich, 89, of Glendale, AZ, and formerly of Nampa, died Friday, July 2, 1993, at a Glendale, AZ, hospital. Goldie Pearl (Kaufman) Gingrich was born to Eli and Magdaline Kaufman on Jan. 21, 1904, in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. At an early age the family moved to Crystal Springs, Kansas and later of Hesston, Kansas. She was reared and educated in Hesston where she graduated from Hesston Academy in 1922. Goldie worked as a maid in Wichita until her marriage. She met Ervin at a church social while visiting her uncle in Oregon. When she returned to Kansas Ervin followed and worked on her brothers farm until their marriage on April 10, 1926. They made their home in Wichita where Goldie was an active member of the Woodland Mennonite Church, always serving as the gracious hostess for visitors. Goldie and Ervin moved to Hesston in 1954, and in the spring of 1959 moved to Nampa to be near their two sons and grandchildren where they remained until Nov. 1981 when they retired to Glencroft Retirement Center in Glendale.
Goldie is survived by her husband, Ervin Gingrich, Glendale, AZ; 3 sons, Clinton W. Gingrich, Mesa, AZ, Leon W. "Bud" Gingrich, Meridian, ID, and Lyle D. Gingrich, Laguna Niquel, CA: her older brother, Harry who is now 102 years old; 9 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lulu, and a brother, Jason.
