10 April 189816 February 1924 The Death of Mrs. Henry Carlsen.
Mrs. Henry M. Carlsen died at Monrovia, California, last Saturday morning at 8:10 o'clock. She had gone to California in October, 1922, together with her daughter and mother Mrs. Andrew Kasper. Her health was not rugged, and it was hoped that by proper treatment she could regain her former strength. Apparently Mrs. Carlsen was successful in her endeavor to regain her strength, but sustained a set-back two weeks before Christmas last year. Thereafter she gradually became weaker until the death angel claimed her. Her husband and mother were with her at the time of her demise. Her body was brought to Monticello this morning.
Mrs. Carlsen, whose maiden name was Lena Kasper, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kasper, and was born on the Kasper farm in Wayne township, April 10, 1898. She would therefore have been 26 years of age on her next birth anniversary. She attended the Monticello public schools and graduated in the class of 1916. She is the first member of her class to die. Following her graduation from high school, she attended Girton's school for girls at Winnetka, Illinois. She was married to Henry H. Carlsen, January 23, 1918. There was one daughter born to this union Kathleen Gertrude.
The funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Kasper, next Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. They will be conducted by Rev. George McNary the pastor of the local Congregational church. Burial will be had at Oakwood cemetery. The passing of this young woman is indeed a severe shock to her many friends in this community. Her place in the family circle can never be filled, and the sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
