Rites for Local Resident to be Held Monday Morning

Mrs. Laura Margaret Kasper, wife of Charles N. Kasper, a well-known local grocer, died at 2:45 o'clock this morning in King's Daughters hospital following an illness with complications. She had been in failing health three years but her condition had been critical only a month.

She was 54 years of age and was born and spent her life in Madison. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Bloom. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and also a member of the Altar Society of the church.

Surviving besides her husband are seven children: Marcella, at home; Sgt. Charles Kasper, in the U.S. army at Macon, Ga., and Anna, Herman, Mary, Theresa, and John at home; three stepchildren, Mrs. Arthur Cox, city; William Kasper, Louisville, and Matt Kasper, North Vernon. Also surviving are six grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Kate Niesse, city, and two brothers, Charles Bloom, Indianapolis, and Leonard Bloom, Los Angeles, Cal.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Jean; a stepdaughter, Mrs. William E. Ready; a brother, Albert Bloom, and a sister, Sister M. Marceline of the Ursuline order.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. Friends may call at the family residence on east Main street Saturday evening and Sunday.

Serve at Kasper Rites

Last rites for Mrs. Charles N. Kasper, who died Friday morning at King's Daughters Hospital, were conducted at St. Mary's church this morning by Fathers A. M. Riehl, Charles Walsh and Joseph Busald, and interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred McKay, Carl Bock, Charles Anger, George Willick, Herman Potter, Oscar Hunger, Bernard Koehler and Charles Hoffman.

Friends and relatives from out of town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kasper, Mr. and Mrs. John Kasper, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Kasper, Mrs. Louise Kasper, Mr. Charles Bloom, Mrs Albert Bloom, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kasper, Mr. William Ready, Mr. and Mrs Chester Wainscott, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schimmel, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Roeder, David and Mary Harmon and Carolyn Britton, all of Indianapolis; Mrs. Anna Welch, Miss Mary Ella Loftus, Mr. and Mrs. William Clifford, Mrs. Kelley Ramp, and Mrs. George Herney, all of Louisville, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, of North Vernon; Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, of Columbus, and Mrs. Claude Wallace and son and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Terrill, of Chicago, Illinois.
