Berger, Theresa (Kasper)
Mrs. Theresa Berger Is Claimed By Death
The writer learned Wednesday afternoon for the first time that Mrs. Theresa Berger, beloved wife of Mr. Jos. Berger, Sr., of this community was quite ill. Tuesday morning early we learned that this splendid wife and mother had passed away, her death occurring about 4:30 a.m.

Funeral arrangements were made and with appropriate services at St. Michael's Church, interment took place at St. Michael's Cemetery, Rev. Jos. Szymanski officiating. The funeral was largely attended, attesting the high regard in which this beloved lady was held by the people of the entire community.

Mrs. Berger was born in Heinzendorf-Mehren, Austria, and was 74 years of age at time of death. She came to America in 1883, landing at Galveston and soon thereafter settled in the Weimar section. She was united in marriage to Mr. Jos. Berger, Sr. on Nov. 11, 1884, in the Bluff (now Hostyn) Catholic Church. Her maiden name was Miss Theresa Kasper.

Mrs. Berger leaves to mourn her untimely departure her heart-broken husband, five children, as follows: Mrs. Albert Grohmann, Mr. Joseph Berger, Jr., Mrs. Frank Polk, Mrs. Charlie Hartensteiner and Mrs. Jos. Stavinoha of Ganado. One daughter, Mary, died in infancy. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Berger had one brother, Mr. Joseph Kasper, Dr. (now deceased) and one half-sister, Mrs. John Krasucky.

Pall bearers at the funeral were her grandsons as follows: Leon Berger, Bernard and Arthur Hartensteiner, Werner Stavinoha, Wilbur Grohmann and Eugene Polk.

Mrs. Berger was a faithful and consistent member of the St. Anne Society, a devoted wife and mother, a good and kind neighbor, always ready to extend help to others in sickness or distress, one whose presence in every gathering was as a gleam of sunshine, and her death is deeply and sincerely deplored by a large circle of friends.

The Mercury's heartfelt sympathy and condolence goes out to her bereaved ones. May a loving Father comfort them as He alone can!
