Albert G. Karpp, 78, retired U.S. customs inspector, was found dead by police and neighbors about 8 Tuesday night on the floor of the bathroom of his home, 143 California Ave. Death was attributed by police to natural causes. Mr. Karpp's wife, Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Karpp, died at the California Avenue family home at the age of 59 on Nov. 10, 1952. St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in North. Watertown Cemetery. Surviving are five brothers and two sisters, Francis, Karpp of California, near Oakland; DeForest Karpp, Greentown, O.; Andrew, Nicholas and Mortimer Karpp, Hamilton; Mrs. Lulu Ferguson, Ilion, and Mrs. Stella Graves, Earlville. He was a veteran of World War I, one of the first two inductees from Madison County to enter the army for war service. He began military service Sept. 8, 1917, and was a musician in Headquarters Company, 310th Infantry, 78th Division. He served overseas and was a veteran of engagements at St Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne. He was discharged June 6, 1919. Mr. Karpp was born Nov. 8, 1892, at Hamilton, a son of Albertus and Florence Morey Karpp. He moved to this city after World War I, was an interior decorator for a number of years, later became an U.S. customs inspector at Clayton and served as border patrolman in Northern New York. Later, he was connected with the F.B.I., serving in this area until his retirement
