Mrs. Rebecca Goldberg, 96, of Gladwin, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1991, at her home after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., April 29, 1895, she moved to Saginaw as a child. The former Rebecca Karol, she married Harry Goldberg on March 16,1915, and they moved to Gladwin, where she joined her husband in the family business, S. Goldberg and Son Department Store. Mr. Goldberg preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1978. Mrs. Goldberg retired from the store in 1984.
Mrs. Goldberg was a member of Temple Benjamin in Mt. Pleasant, a life member of Hadasseh, past president of the Gladwin County Women's Club, past matron of the Order of Eastern Stars, Gladwin, a member of the Gladwin Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Gladwin Hospital Auxiliary.
Mr. and Mrs. Goldberg founded the Goldberg Child Care Center at Mid Michigan Community College. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carvel (Mildred) Wolfson of Gladwin; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Kaufman Funeral Home in Southfield with burial in the Cloverhill Park Cemetery, Birmingham. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home. Gladwin County Record dated 11-6/1991 Column - 3 Page - 2.
