BOURNE -- Gloria (Chivilo) Karlson, 77, of Bourne, died Thursday, Jan. 25, after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Rodney A. Karlson.

Born April 24, 1929, in Fitchburg to the late Arthur and Rose Chivilo, she was a 1947 graduate of Fitchburg High School and worked for a local judge as a legal secretary. After her retirement in 1978, she moved with her husband to Bourne. She remained active by taking daily walks with her dog, Tobi. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting and bridge. Gloria loved to read and was an active supporter of the Jonathan Bourne Public Library. She is survived by her sons, Bart F. Karlson and his wife, Sheila, of Lowell, and Jon R. Karlson and his wife, Valerie of Littleton, Colo.; her sisters, Viola Chivilo of Leominster and Lorraine Hughes of Gardner; three grandchildren, Mikenzie, Charles "Chip" and Garrett, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Rodney A. Karlson, son, Eric A. Karlson and brother, Bart Chivilo, preceded her in death.

KARLSON -- On Thursday, Jan. 25, Gloria (Chivilo) Karlson, 77, of Bourne. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 165 Main St., Buzzards Bay. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation may be made in her memory to the Jonathan Bourne Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice.
