Carol Karloff Ecklund, 71, of Mead died Thursday, October 7, 2004, in Fremont.
She was born March 17, 1933, in Wahoo to Herbert and Eleanor (Starmann) Karloff.
She graduated high school in 1950 from Yutan Public Schools. She received her
teaching certificate at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and then taught
country school in the Saunders County area for three years. She also was a
Sunday school and Bible school teacher, as well as founder of the Mead Classie
Lassies 4-H Club. She later received her associate degree in interior design
from Metropolitan Community College in 1982. She was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, served as secretary of the WELCA organization, as well as
serving on multiple projects and committees. Survivors include: her husband,
Burneil Ecklund of Mead; a son, Mark (and wife, Lissa) Ecklund of Bellevue; two
daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Mark) Poeschl of Brookville, Ohio, and Beth (Mrs. Joseph)
Rohan of Omaha; a sister, Janet (Mrs. Gayle) Behrens of Mead; a brother, James
(Mrs. Helen) Karloff of Hastings; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yutan.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in
Wahoo. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. A memorial has been
established to the church.
