Marion E. Kanka, 92, of Hamilton Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Penn Medicine of Princeton at Plainsboro, NJ, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Franklin, New Jersey, Marion has been a resident of Hamilton Township for the past 70 years.

She was a graduate of Rider College (Rider University), where she received her degree in Business Education. Marion was a dedicated business teacher at Trenton Central High School from 1968, until she retired in 1992. After her retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Hamilton Township Board of Education, for 12 years.

She was a dedicated substitute teacher who worked many days a week, mostly at Nottingham High School. She made many friends with the staff as well as with the student and will always be remembered for her excellent work habits every day she was there.

Marion was a member of the Trenton Education Association, New Jersey Education Association, and the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a parishioner of St. Raphael / Holy Angels Church.

Marion enjoyed the crafts, mainly knitting and embroidery. She made many beautiful afghans that she gave to her friends. She was always a very caring wife and mother, as well as a dedicated teacher for over 30 years.

Marion was a die-hard New York Rangers Hockey fan. She and her husband would attend many of their games at the old Madison Square Garden in New York City. Dating back to the 1950’s. They would also golf at the Burlington County Country Club in Burling County, NJ.

Predeceased by her parents Steve and Anna Fedor Toma, her husband Joaseph F. Kanka (married March 1951, Trenton, Mercer County, NJ), her son-in-law Everett Dean Harvey, and her mother-in-law Florence Delaney.

She is survived by her loving son, Joseph S. Kanka, and his wife Luz Nelly; and her daughter, Nancy Kanka Harvey.

Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., from the Brenna Funeral home, Immordino Chapel 1799 Klockner Road Hamilton, NJ 08619.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Raphael Church, 3500 S. Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.

Burial will follow at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the Brenna Funeral Home, Immordino Chapel 1799 Klockner Road Hamilton, NJ 08619.
