Birth: 1852
County Dublin, Ireland
Death: Sep. 27, 1922

Michigan, USA

Eliza was born in County Dublin, Ireland in 1852, the daughter of John and Anne Sweeney-Kane. She immigrated in 1863 or 64 to the U.S. with her mother, sisters, Kate and Roseann, and brother John. They settled on a farm in Metamora Twp. next to her uncle, Patrick Sweeney. Eliza's oldest brother, Michael had immigrated prior to 1860 and was working for his uncle Patrick.
There she met Michael Gormley who lived on a farm about 1 mile North. They married on Nov. 18, 1879 and eventually homesteaded a farm in 1886 on Vernor Road in Arcadia Township. Eliza and Michael had four children; Margaret, Katherine, Peter and Emma. Eliza died at her home on Sept, 27, 1922.
