Ruth Kahn Adicoff of Grass Valley, California passed away on July 29, 2012. She was born on October 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Celia Kestenbaum and William Kahn. She grew up in Milwaukee and then attended nursing school in Chicago where she met her husband of 58 years, Arnold Adicoff. After a few years in Chicago and Cleveland, they settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota where they raised their three children. In 1990, they retired to Grass Valley where they developed many great friendships.
Ruth was very active in the Nevada County Jewish community, and through entertaining, was the glue that held many groups of friends and family together. She was an avid reader, and loved traveling to Europe, Africa, and throughout the United State with Arnie. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing French cuisine and the best brisket, chopped liver and matzoh ball soup. Ruth's passion was playing bridge and she became a life master in 2008. She will be remembered as a kind and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ruth is preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Wendorf and granddaughter, Sarah Adicoff. She is survived by her husband, Arnold; children, Carrie of Escondido, CA, Sam (Susan Conner) of Sun Valley, ID, and Ann (Mark Schneider) of Bonsall, CA; her grandchildren, Willie, Jake, Rebekkah, Ariel, Kurt, and Kyle; and her nieces, Cheri Gitter and Sandy Verrier.
