Death of Nathaniel Kitts
Friday, at the home of Nicholas Beck, occurred the death of Nathaniel Kitts, aged 75 years. Mr. Kitts sustained a stroke of apoplexy about a week ago from which he never rallied. He had always lived in Lewis County, the past three years having been spent in this village with his daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Beck. He was engaged in farming the greater part of his life. In 1852 he married Ella McCormick, at Canton, she dying about four years ago. Ten children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are John and James of Watertown; Henry and Nathaniel, of Fulton; George, of Corning; Matthew, of Harrisville; Mrs. Robert Cochran, of Antwerp; Mrs. Elbert Lawton, of Fairfield; Peter Kitts and Mrs. Nicholas Beck (Nellie), of Lyons Falls. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Dean, after which the remains were taken to Harrisville for interment.
