Well Known Palatine Woman
Mrs. C. E. Julian, 86, Passes;

Amanda R. Julian, wife of Charles E. Julian, of Palatine, passed away Sunday afternoon, Dec, 13, after a long illness.

Mrs. Julian was one of Palatine's oldest residents and had been a popular and active citizen of the community for many years.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Julian home on North Hale streeet.

OBITUARY
Amanda R. Julian, the daughter of Henry and Martha Van de Grift, was born September 13, 1851, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her girlhood was passed there and there she was married to W. H. Bray of that city. From this union, there were two daughters, Mrs. H. H. Hart and Mrs. J. H. Manning.

Some years after the death of Mr. Bray, she married Charles E. Julian of Alden, Illinois. They had one son, Charles V. Julian. Besides her husband and daughters, three grandchildren survive, Kenneth V. Smith, Mrs. Lowell Weir, and Richard V. Julian, and one great grandchild, Minnie Weir.

Mrs. Julian was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Palatine, a charter member of the Woman's Relief Corps, a charter member of the Woman's club, a charter member of the Eastern Star, president of the Woman's Relief Corps two terms.

Always ready to do her part in church or village welfare work, she was never self-seeking, never desirous of prominence for herself.

Making and preserving a home was for her a fine art. Quietly, unselfishly attending to the duties of life a devoted wife and mother, she took pleasure in all joyous, beautiful things. Her life became a lovely pattern of work well done, of friends and neighbors helped, of worthy causes assisted. Hospitable, kindly, her gentle sympathy and understanding will be remembered by hosts of friends.

Of the 53 years of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Julian spent 52 years in Palatine. Her husband says, "Her life was sunshine to all of us."

Always she retained the loveliest qualities of childhood, a quick, joyous nature, gay, sweet, yet with strength to endure much--and an unquestioning faith. "Of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Mrs. Julian, after a long illness, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 1936. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the residence on N. Hale street. Rev. Bloomquist and Rev. Schnell officiated. Interment was in Hillside cemetery.
