Pete Jorgensen was born in Gedesby, Falster, Maribo, Denmark in 1881. As a young man, he served one year in the Danish Army. At 24 years of age he came to the U.S. for the first time on the SS "Baltic"; arriving at Ellis Island on March 25th, 1905. Between 1905 and 1909 he lived with his sister's family in Oshkosh, Wisconsin doing furniture woodwork. His occupation in 1905 is listed as veneerer. In 1909, he returned to Denmark and escorted his bride-to-be back to the U.S. Their route took them through Liverpool, England where on June 19th, they boarded the Lusitania. They arrived at Ellis Island on June 25th, 1909. They were married in Viborg, Turner Co., SD on January 6, 1910.
