Martin John Peter Jorgensen, better known as Peter or Pete, was born in Winner, SD on February 22, 1935 to Martin and Edith (Martin) Jorgensen, the youngest of eight children. He spent most of his life living a few miles west of Clearfield, SD. He attended country school and graduated from Winner High School in 1953.

After high school he returned to the farm and helped with the cattle and crops. In 2002 due to health reasons he moved in with his nephew Paul and resided with his family until his death. He was a member of Star Prairie Baptist Church and later joined Winner First Baptist Church.

While on the farm he enjoyed welding and "inventing" things with the welder, as well as playing horse shoes, volleyball and listening to the Twins games. Every fall he enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting with family. He also enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together and doing word search puzzles.

Peter died January 22, 2014 at Winner Regional Healthcare Center. Funeral services were held January 25 at First Baptist Church in Winner. Peter is survived by brothers Chester of Winner and Dwain (Deloris) of Vermillion, SD, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Marvin, Russell and Eugene; sisters Esther Doris Jorgensen and Opal (Stuart) Petersen, and sister-in-law Merle Jorgensen.
