Albert C. Jones was born on May 13, 1924 in Boise, Ada Co, ID to Beatrice and William Jones. He died January 24, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Albert attended grade school in Winnemucca and graduated from the Humboldt County High School in 1943. He joined the Navy in 1943 and was a Radioman 2nd Class in the Pacific Theater during World War II and discharged in 1946. He worked for the Western Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads for forty-eight years and retired in 1988. He then enjoyed a second career in various business ventures. He was born an optimist with a positive outlook on life. He raised his children and grandchildren to believe they could do anything they set their minds to. He was an avid reader and a self-educated man who never knew an idle moment.
He was able to travel extensively with his wife and family after his retirement. He spent time involved in high school rodeos with his grandchildren and with much pride, he raised Miss Hot Current. In 1982, the filly won the Intermountain Quarter Horse Futurity with a record time of 17.06 seconds and held that record for twenty-three years.
Albert is survived by the love of his life, Dee, who he was married to for sixty-four years; a daughter, Jan (Mike) Kalafatic of Lamoille; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren: Chad Alexander, Bill (Kim) Alexander and their children Cody and Jessica, Kim Alexander (Reed) Young and their children Race and Hunter, Casey Jones and Alicia Jones. He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Drone and Gail Sweigart; two brothers, Bill Jones and Bob Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David, and sisters Jacqueline Matheny and Maxine Alger.
