Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation is today one hour prior to the service at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jones was a native of Macon and was a graduate of Macon High School. She was also a graduate of Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, Ky. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Macon, where she served as a treasurer. She was a past state treasurer for the Daughters of the American Revolution and a past regent of the Dancing Rabbit Chapter. She was a charter member and past state chaplain for the Mississippi Chapter of the Magna Charta Dames and the 17th Century Mashulatubbee Chapter of the Colonial Dames. She was a member of the Noxubee County Historical Society. She was past president of the Zack Brooks Golf Club in Macon. She was also a member of the Central Academy Booster Club Hall of Fame.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney B. Jones Jr.; daughter, Paula Jones Salter; sisters, Anne Prince, Willie Walker and Lucille Williams; brother, Paul Dent; a half-brother, Emmett Dent; and her parents, Leon and Gertrude Augustus Dent.
She is survived by her by a son, Gus Jones of Tupelo; two grandchildren and great-grandchild. Pallbearers are Tommy Princ, Dent Williams, Sid Salter, Rick Rodgers, Alex Williams and Brandon Pratt. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 162, Macon, MS 39341.
