He had lived in Amazonia, Mo., since 1988. He had worked as a machine operator for The Missouri State Highway Department.
"Bud" was a keen observer of both nature and humanity. He was a sportsman in the truest sense of the word. In his many years of trapping, hunting, and fishing, he took it as a challenge to outwit the most canny animals.
He was an expert small engine mechanic, a master woodsman, a spinner of tall yarns, and could sharpen a knife to a razors edge.
Bud loved to share his knowledge of nature and was never more pleased than when he was able to 'pull one over' on someone.
Bud served in the Missouri Army National Guard and was an excellent marksman.
He will be remembered fondly for his love of nature and clever wit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tonie and Lottie Jones; brothers, Truman, Leslie, Cheslie, Dale and Robert Jones; sisters, Ruth Meadows and Donna Hill.
Bud is survived by daughters Sonya Pierson, Liberty, Mo., Terri Guilliams, Lexington, Mo., Paula Dayringer, Kearney, Mo., and Jane Jones, Lexington; brother, Larry Jones, St. Joseph; sisters Mildred Smith, Bethany, Mo., Betty Thrasher, Grant City, Mo., and Opal Guernsey, Bethany; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, with interment in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Denver, Mo.
