Arbutis Wimer Ruddle Jones, 77, of Staunton, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, after a yearlong battle with cancer.



She was born on Feb. 24, 1936, in Cherry Grove, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Nola Sponaugle Wimer.



Arbutis graduated from Weyers Cave High School and was employed in the banking business for 43 years before retiring. She moved from Baltimore, Md., to Staunton, where she has lived since 1985. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church.



On March 3, 1954, she married Edwin Ruddle, who preceded her in death on March 28, 1986; she was also married to Ronald Jones, who also preceded her in death.



She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Marrah and husband, Keith, of Weyers Cave; two sons, Daniel Ruddle and wife, Catherine, of Baltimore, Md., and Roger Ruddle and wife, Melanie, of Staunton; five grandchildren, Daniel Ruddle Jr., Michelle Placek, Daniel Marrah II, Jeffrey Marrah and Shayna Keagy; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leland Wimer of Pennsylvania, Nathan Wimer of Weyers Cave and Gerald Wimer of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Leona Berry Wyant and Joyce Edwards Craun, both of Weyers Cave, and Janice Wimer Bibb of Staunton; two stepchildren, Jan Jones of Raphine and Patricia Matheny of Verona; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.



She was also preceded in death by a brother, Sherwood Wimer.



The family will be receiving friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.



A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, with Pastor Roy Trump officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
