MT. VERNON — — Helen Bernice Glenn, 89, of Mt. Vernon, left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1922, in Opdyke to George Delbert and Gladys Porter Jones. She married Clarence Ray "Curney" Glenn on June 8, 1941, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1999.
Helen is survived by three sons, Larry Glenn and wife Jody of Texico, Michael "Mike" Glenn Sr. and wife Donna of Mt. Vernon and Mark Glenn and wife Pamela of Bluford. She is survived by one daughter, Michelle "Mickey" Burwell and husband Jerry of Mt. Vernon. Helen had ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter, Linda Karch, a stillborn daughter, two sisters, Ruby Beppler and Opal Jones, one brother, Bob Jones, and one grandson.
She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Iuka. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and sewing. She worked as a CNA at Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon for many years prior to retirement at the age of 76.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
