Janie J. Barker, 97, of Atlanta, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2003. Mrs. Barker was the daughter of Jason Wright and Nannie Sirmon Jones and the widow of James Dailey Barker. Following graduation from The University of Alabama, Mrs. Barker taught Math in the Alabama public schools. After marrying, she became a devoted homemaker, noted for her cooking and sewing. She was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church for 55 years where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Wesley - Gleaners Sunday School Class, the Altar Guild, and the Administrative Board. She was also a member of the Ansley Golf Club. In her later years, she became an avid Bible student. Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, James D. Barker, Jr. and Janie, Atlanta; three grandchildren and spouses, John D. Barker and Laura, Washington, DC; Elisabeth Lovas and Andre, Smyrna; Carolyn Clifton and Brad, Dunwoody; and five great-grandchildren, Kathleen Barker, Martha Barker, Nancy Lovas, James Lovas, and Grace Clifton.
