Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company E, 28th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on September 22, 1862. He served until he died of typhoid fever on February 6, 1863 st the regimental camp at Falmouth, Virginia. He was originally interred on the O'Bannon Farm in Stafford, Virginia.
In 1879 his mother, Mary Jones, filed for a US Army Dependent Pension (Application #246721, Certificate #191702).
