BARNWELL - Mrs. Iris Martin Jones, widow of Freddie E. Jones, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fronice Garvin of Barnwell Heights Tuesday evening after eight months of illness.
A member of the Double Pond Baptist Church, Mrs. Jones had lived in the Double Pond community for a number of years. She was the daughter of the late W. H. And Carrie Hartzog Martin of Barnwell County.
Survivors include two daughters, Mr. J. M. Stover of Decatur, Ga., and Mrs. Garvin; one son, Lowell Jones of Barnwell; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Brooker, Mrs. Inez Lott and Mrs. Ellen Garvin, all of Blackville; seven brothers, D. H. Martin, N. H. Martin, and M. D. Martin, all of Blackville, Comet S. Martin of Williston, W. W. Martin of Norway, H. C. Martin of Livingston and W. E. Martin of Aiken; two grandsons; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Double Pond Baptist Church at 3:30 p. m. Thursday by the Rev. Red Mears. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
