Jean R. Jones Dorak, of Newtown, Pa., died on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. She was 85. She was the beloved wife of 36 years to the late Michael J. Dorak. Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Mae Jones, mother of the late Dorothy Ann Lund Sweeney, John S. Dorak and sister of the late Jack Jones and Dorothy Dixon. Jean and her late husband moved to Levittown in 1952, where they lived for several years before settling in Newtown in 1974. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Class of 1942. Jean was the consummate homemaker. She was a member of the Federated Women's Club of Levittown and was part of a gourmet club of very close friends for many years. Jean loved to write poetry and was fortunate enough to have several published especially her favorites "Leave Them With Laughter" in Timeless Voices, a publication of the International Library of Poetry and "Mike" in Treasury of Great Poems. She also painted with oils and acrylics and enjoyed repairing and dressing old dolls. She will be deeply missed by many for her care and concern for others. She is survived by her daughter and son, Mary Jean Dowe, of Town Bank, N.J., and Michael J. Dorak III, of Manchester Tenn.; and her 12 devoted grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her dear sister-in-law, Georgia Jones. Jean's family received condolences on Friday evening until her memorial service, which was officiated by her grandson, Minister Jacob Dorak, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment was to be private in St. Andrew Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Youth Ministry at West Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 1205 Kendrick Creek Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
