Mr. Ernest William Jones, 76, of Hawkinsville, Ga. passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home with Dr. Kelly Pritchett, Rev. Freddie Hogg and Rev. Richard Soper officiating. Burial will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was a native of Dodge County, Ga. and a member of the Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church in Americus, Ga. He was an Army Veteran and retired grocer having worked for Piggly Wiggly and Jones Z-Mart stores. Ernest was a member of the Hawkinsville Lions Club, Jaycees and the Masonic Lodge. He was married to his wife, Nellie, for 56 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brit and Eddie Jones and sister, Martha Jean McCranie.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Jones of Hawkinsville, Ga.; son, Jeff Jones (Lina) of Hawkinsville, Ga.; daughter, Pam Hogg (Tom) of Hawkinsville, Ga.; brother, Burnise Jones of Eastman, Ga.; grandchildren, Dylan Gay, Josh Jones, Brinn Jones, Riley Gay, Chandler Jones, Deidra Davis (Rodney), Samantha Hogg, Hunter Dokey and 5 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Proctor, Lenny Griffin, Max Kilgore, Tim Wynne, Luke Peavy, Chris Dollar, Wesley Stewart and Wes Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ivy Care Options and former Piggly Wiggly and Jones Z-Mart employees.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. before the service begins in the chapel.
