JONES, Elizabeth Cheek. The Pulaski Citizen 5 Feb 1969.
Mrs. Elizabeth Cheek Jones, 94, of Nashville, died Sunday morning, February 2, at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, after a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones, wife of the late William Rainey Jones, were held Tuesday afternoon, February 4, in Cosmopolitan Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jack Walton, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
A native of Giles County, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Bertran and Julia Elizabeth Cheek.
Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Martin College and was married in 1898. Mr. Jones was connected with The Pulaski Citizen for many years and later moved to Nashville, where was connected with the Methodist Publishing House until his death in 1931.
Mrs. Jones was one of the oldest members of the West End Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harry V. L. Gowen, and Mrs. Marcus J. Dunley, both of Nashville, Mrs. Hays Clark Ernest of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, William R. Jones, Jr., of Nashville; one granddaughter, Mrs. L. M. Eckman of Union City; a nephew, G. A. Roberts, Pulaski; two nieces, Mrs. Ellen Dean and Mrs. Paul Roland of Jackson.
