Edward Jones, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 8 at his home in Littleton. The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton by the Rev. Timothy Edwards, pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jones, son of the late James and Pearl Jones, was born Aug. 17, 1926 in Warren County.

A member of Lovely Hill Baptist Church, he later joined Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, where he served as an usher.

Educated in the Warren County public school system, Mr. Jones graduated from John R. Hawkins High School and was then employed as a bus driver.

In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army. Mr. Jones later moved to Newark, N.J., where he was employed as a steam presser for a dry cleaning service. Upon retirement, he moved back to his home in North Carolina.

Mr. Jones is survived by a son, Tommy Jones of Raleigh; two sisters, Clara Spruill of Baltimore, Md. and Frances McNair of Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, Robert of Philadelphia, Pa., Julian and Alfred, both of Warrenton; and a granddaughter.

Arrangements were by R.H. Greene Funeral Home.
