Alice Naomi "Nonie" Marquis was born in Oberlin, Kansas on August 25, 1912. She went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2010. Nonie was the seventh of ten children. Nonie was married to Kenneth "Baba" Marquis, for 38 years, until his passing in May 1973. Nonie was the mother of Jack L. Marquis. Baba, Nonie and Jack moved to San Diego in 1939. Nonie worked as a makeup consultant for May Co./ Robinsons in Mission Valley. Nonie had eight grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children and five great-great-grandchildren. Nonie was actively involved with her church, enjoyed making beautiful floral arrangements and stained glass, watching Padres games, collecting antiques and pruning her beautiful rose garden. Nonie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Johnston, her husband, Kenneth , her son, Jack, her daughter-in-law, Ruth , her nine siblings, her granddaughter, Lisa Thompson, and great-great grandson, Jacob Roca. Nonie is survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children, and four great-great-grandchildren. A private family viewing will be held at El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020 on Wednesday, August 18th, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a public viewing from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Her memorial service will be held at El Cajon Mortuary on Thursday, August 19th, at 10:00 a.m. and her final resting place will be at Alpine Cemetery.
