Born Sept. 11, 1928 in Coalville, UT to Wilfred Visick and Vera Winters Johnston. Married Ernest D. "Mike" Carmichael (later divorced).
Mom was an avid reader and an Atlanta Braves fan (Becky took her to many games). She tried her hand at golf. She was Valedictorian of her class at North Summit High School in 1946 and was the editor of the Warwhoop school newspaper. As an RN in the Cottonwood Hospital Nursery for over 25 years, Johnny specialized in the care of sick and premature babies. After her divorce, mom continued to raise seven children, with the help of her mother, in the spirit of independence, self-respect and mutual love. As a result, we get along famously to this day and we have passed her wisdom down to our children as well.
Survived by children: Rebecca, Mary, Melissa, Kate, Susan, Julie and Joe; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her best friend and sister, Belva. Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tues, January 6, 2009, 11 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan 5, at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment to follow.
Thanks to every family member and friend who helped out and a special thanks to the staff of Alpine Hospice.
