She was considered the world's leading woman harpist in the early 1900's and played for President Taft and Wilson in addition to playing as a soloist with many leading symphonies. Her name often appeared as Dorothy Johnstone Baseler in print. She was the mother of Robert Lee Baseler and Dorothy Virginia Baseler Thackery.
