Ethel Johnston Davis, 73, died Tuesday in a Salt Lake City, Utah, hospital following a stroke while visiting her daughter for Thanksgiving.
She was born in Oakley, Idaho Aug. 23, 1900, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann Arbon Johnston. She attended grade school in Twin Falls and when she was 14, her family moved to Arbon Valley.
She worked in Malad at a drug store, where she met Cecil Davis, whom she married on Oct. 6, 1920 in Salt Lake City, and they moved there shortly after their marriage.
The family moved to Logan, Utah in 1927 and in 1939 moved to Idaho Falls. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for the Elks Lodge for 17 years and also worked at a local department store and dress shop.
She used to sing and was active in music circles. She was a member of the LDS church.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Bill J. of Idaho Falls and Bob J. of Pocatello; Mrs. James (Charmayne) Sylvester of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Donald (Ethel) May Anderson of Zerist, South Africa. There are 12 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; preceded by her husband in death May 29, 1971.
