Ernest ‘Barney’ Johnston Spokane

Funeral Mass for Ernest L. “Barney” Johnston, 74, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnston, who was born in Molson, Wash., died Tuesday.
He worked as a millwright for Long Lake Lumber Co., for more than 30 years. He and his family lived in Republic, Wash., before moving to Spokane 35 years ago.
He was a member of Assumption Parish and American Legion Post No. 80.
Mr. Johnston served in the Navy Seabees during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Johnston; two sons, Raleigh Johnston of Spokane and Dan Johnson of Idaho; two stepsons, Harold and Melvin Murphy, both of Spokane; one daughter, Ollivetta Clute of Medical Lake; two stepdaughters, Patricia Hagen of Homer, Alaska, and Carol Lilienthal of Spokane; one sister, Iris Schorn of Osoyoos, British Columbia; and numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
