Obituary of Annie May Jinkins Johnston

Annie May, second daughter of Robert and Katherine Jinkins, was born at Dubuque, Iowa, on May 11, 1890, and passed away at her home in the town of Mifflin on June 12, 1937, at the age of 47 years, 1 month and 1 day. On Feb. 25, 1925, she was united in marriage to Edward Johnston and has resided on the farm ever since, and where her death occured. She was the mother of three children, two daughters and one son. They are Lillian (Mrs. Edwin Williams of Linden), Dorene and Melbourne Johnston at home. To the children the memory of a good mother is a benediction.
Besides the children she leaves to mourn her departure her bereaved husband, her father, Robert Jinkins of Ridgeway, four brothers and one sister, namely: Harry and Alvin of Ridgeway, Clarence of Necedah, Leroy of Prairie du Sac, and Myrtle (Mrs. Milton Beerkircher) of Mifflin, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and one sister, Maude.
In former years Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Advent Christian church of Mifflin, but of late years has been an active worker in the Primitive Methodist church, a faithful memeber of the Martha Washington society and a regular attendant at the Sunday school, where she will be sadly missed. Annie, as she was known by everyone, can be likened to the mother of old, humble, obedient and kind. Her thoughts, love and consideration for others, her family and her home were her outstanding virtues. These are the attributes which will make her absence keenly felt by all who mourn her departure.
The funeral, which was largely attended, was held Monday with a short service at the home, and services at the P. M. church, the pastor, Rev. J. H. Gordon, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. H. Miller of Ridgeway. Interment was in the Mifflin cemetery.
