BIO INFO: William was the 20 year old son of Francis C. Johnston and Hattie Phillips of Bourbon Co., KY. He was serving as a U.S. Air Force Pilot, when He was killed along with His Co-Pilot Robert Gerald Kraft (IL), Radio Operator Herbert Lee Cook (IN). Navigator Richard Edward Kerns (IL), Engineer Edward N. Bagley (CA), Bombardier Melverne Carl Starmer (MO) and Gunner Francis X. Broun (MA) during an Aircraft accident, 25 miles N.E. of the McNary Bombing Range in Hudspeth Co., Texas. At the time of His death, William was living at 1220 Main Street in Paris, Bourbon Co., Kentucky.
