Ardell Behrens Johnston, Destin, FL, died January 9, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Troy, AL. She was born June 24,1928, to Grover and Mary (Schnabele) Behrens, Deshler, OH. She was graduated from Leipsic High School in 1945 and Bowling Green State University in 1949. She taught at McKinley School in Toledo. She married Fox H. Johnston in 1958, and he died in 1986.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Paul) Watkins of Troy, AL; her son, Fox (Jarmin) Johnston, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN; six grandchildren, along with her sisters, Esther (Walter) Baker of Perrysburg, OH, and Helen (Charles) Gustafson of Raleigh, NC.
Memorial services were held January 12 in Troy, AL. On January 18, her remains will be placed with those of her husband, Capt. Fox H. Johnston, USN (Rtd.), in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
