Services for Mildred B. "Bibbie" Johnston, 85, of 212 South Second St., Clearfield, who died at the Clearfield Hospital on Sunday, June 6,1993, will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. from the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc.
The Rev. Thomas R. Jacobs will officiate and interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
The order of the Eastern Star will have a memorial service at the funeral home today at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Johnston was born on Sept. 2, 1907, in Clearfield a daughter of Milford and Bertha (Champeno) Bratton.
She was a graduate of Clearfield High School Class of 1925, a graduate of the former Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie-Mellon, and the University of Pittsburgh. She taught for many years in both the Curwensville and Clearfield school districts.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Clearfield Chapter No. 379 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for the escort service at the Clearfield Hospital for many years and was recently recognized for donating 2,500 hours to the hospital volunteer services. Also, she was a member of various teacher's organizations.
She is survived by a son, John K. Johnston of Lambertville, N. J.; by two grandchildren, Michael Johnston, Baltimore, Md., and Karen Sherwood, Highland Mills, N. Y., by three great-grandchildren and by a sister, Elizabeth Herbert, Missouri City, Texas.
Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, J. Kenneth "Jack" Johnston in 1973; by two brothers, Russell and John Bratton, and by a sister Elsie Stewart.
The family suggests that contributions be made to either the Clearfield Foundation for Health for the Escort Service, P. O. Box 992, Clearfield Pa. 16830 or to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2nd and Walnut Streets, Clear field, Pa. 16830.
