|Death: ||Nov. 22, 1949|
Daughter of Wayne T. Johnson and
Cora J. H. Francis
Wife of Benoni Dawson Allnutt
The tragic death of Lucille Johnson Allnutt in an explosion in her home on Tuesday has saddened the hearts of many persons in Rockville and upper Montgomery County. Her lovely singing voice, winning personality and beauty had won her many friends in the years since she came from her native Tennessee—first to teach and later to be supervisor of music in the county schools.
Men blinked back tears and women sobbed when news of her sudden death was told in the county seat. It seemed cruel and hard to associate death with anyone so young and full of the joy of living.
Lucille sang because she loved to sing—singing was as natural to her as to a bird. With a true understanding of the universal language of music,she had the happy faculty of inspiring others to sing.
We shall all be just a little better for having known her and for having followed her in song—at school, at public gatherings, with the Laymen's Choir or her Church choir in Rockville.
