Samuel Johnson, of Brewster Settlement, died Wednesday evening May 3, at the home of his nephew, W. N. Johnson. Funeral at the home Friday morning. Burial at Smithville by the side of wife and son. Samuel Johnson was the brother of the late Gustavo Johnson and daring his stay here of fifteen months had made friends with all.

The subject of this sketch was born in Henderson, coming to Ellisburg with his parents and eight brothers and sisters, at eight years of age. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Loraine Bishop of Woodville, having one son who died fourteen years ago, when he was called, light was nearly taken from the home. Two years ago his wife died leaving him in a very despondent state. During the past year he has lived in
Brewster Settlement with his brother Gustave, who passed away last February, soon after Mr Johnson was taken ill, passing away Wednesday The funeral was held at his late home Friday. Interment at Smithville.
