James Wayland Johnson Sr., 66, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson. He was born April 13, 1942 in Abernathy, TX to Adron and Melvina Johnson.

He enlisted in the army after graduation and was stationed in Tuley, Greenland and fought for his bravely. He was member of First Capitol Missionary Baptist Church in West Columbia. After retiring from Dow Security, he pursued his favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing.

"J.W" is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne Johnson of West Columbia; son, James Wayland Johnson, Jr. and wife Susan of Norfolk, Virginia; daughter, Stacey Lynn Martinez and Eric of Texline, TX; brother, Ed Johnson and wife Carol of Halecenter, TX; sister, Janet Perkinson of Halecenter, TX; 2 grandchildren, Audrianna and Seth Martinez; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Abernathy Cemetery in Abernathy, TX with Rev. Green officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. Visitation will also be Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Abernathy Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Darrell Schwebel, Charlie MacFerrin, James Knight and Hector Cueallar.
