Ruby J. Hensley, 84, of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., formerly of Monroe, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Claiborne County Hospital, Tazewell, Tenn.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Joe Bryant, Pastor of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born August 25, 1924, in Claiborne County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Beeler) Johnson. She married Luther W. Hensley on March 16, 1941, in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1998.
She was a homemaker and a member of Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and a former member of the Union Street Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons; Charles R. Hensley of Middlesboro, Kentucky and Glenn W. (Lucille) Hensley of Cookeville, Tennessee; one half-brother, nine half-sisters, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three half-sisters and one half-brother.
