SERVICES HELD AT DAVIS CHAPEL FOR MRS. JOHNSON

DAVIS (Special) -- Services for Mrs. Dora Johnson, who died on Thursday of last week, after a lingering illness resulting from a heart ailment, were conducted Saturday at the Davis Ward chapel under the direction of the ward bishopric.

A mixed quartet, composed of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Goodrich, Eunice Simper, John Buist and Bertha Slaugh, accompanied by Josie Buist, sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" as the opening selection. Walter Simper offered the invocation. "Jesus Lover Of My Soul" was the second number by the quartet.

George O. Massey, a life-long acquaintance of the deceased, was the first speaker, followed by a selection by the quartet, "Sister, Thou Wasr Nild and Lovely."

President Archie Johnson was the concluding speaker with closing remarks by Bishop Wallace Slaugh. The quartet sang, "Rest Rest For The Weary."

The benediction was offered by Alfred Simper. Pallbearers were Hyrum Slaugh, Lyle Slaugh, Chas Slaugh, Wilford Olsen, Henry Slaugh and Francis Willis. Interment was at the Vernal Memorial Park with Henry Slaugh dedicating the grave.

Mrs. Johnson was an enthusiastic LDS church worker teaching Sunday School, Primary and acting as a couselor in the ward Relief Society for many years. Her husband Benjamin Williard Johnson preceded her in death three years ago.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 22, 1878 at Pleasant Grove, the daughter of J. J. Slaugh and Matilda Smuin Slaugh.

Surviving are the following children who were in attendance at the funeral: Mary Baird of California; Florence Brine of Oregon; Nellie Crammer of Price; Percilla Marshall, Vernal; Carl Johnson, in the U.S. forces stationed in Texas; Jesse Johnson of Price; Maxine Johnson and Ruth Harrison of Vernal; Lucy Edwards of Myton; George Johnson, Benjamin F. Johnson of Vernal; one brother, George Slaugh of Vernal and two sisters, Florence Willis of Vernal and Sarah Robbins of Cedarview.
