Arlene Bergstrom entered into rest on September 13th and is now with the love of her life, her husband Lew. Arlene was born October 12, 1923 to the late James H. and Sophie C. (Larsen) Johnson in Crescent, near Salt Lake, Utah. She grew up in the Salt Lake area.

She came to San Diego, California during World War II to live with her older sister and her husband. She worked in an aircraft factory assembling planes for the war effort.
It was in San Diego that she met Lew Bergstrom, a young Marine. They married May 8th, 1944 and later were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They honeymooned in San Francisco and returned to San Diego until the war ended. They then moved to Merced and in 1955 moved to the Yuba Sutter area when Lew became the manager of the State, Tower and Sutter Theaters in Marysville and Yuba City.

Arlene managed Cal's Drive Inn at the corner of 1st and D Street in the late 1950's and worked for her husband's company at the State Theatre. In 1971, they moved to Reno when Lew became a District Manager for United Artists Theaters and returned to Yuba City in 1992 after Lew retired.

Arlene, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, served as a Stake missionary, Relief Society secretary, Sunday School secretary, primary teacher and visiting teacher.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of over 56 years, Lew Bergstrom and has four children including Jeannette Mason (Roger) of Loma Rica, Karen Bassett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Denise Berg (David) of Live Oak and Steven Bergstrom of Las Vegas, Nevada. She has 19 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren & 7 great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Bassett. She is survived by two sisters and three brothers, all residing in Utah. She had two sisters and one brother predecease her.
