Alice Louise Johnson Austin, 91, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Alice was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Humble to Pauline and Jesse Johnson. She was proud of her large family and accomplishments of each. Alice enjoyed family gatherings especially the annual Easter egg hunt held in her back yard. Her home was always open to family and their friends. Alice enjoyed sharing her handmade quilts, ceramics, ornaments and stockings, which are still used by her adult grandchildren. It was said her middle name was "Go," as she loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 53 years, Johnnie Austin; one son, Allen LeRoy; and one son-in-law, Charles Merritt.
Survivors: Daughters, Carol Austin Hughes and husband, Charles, of Virginia Beach, Va., Jackie Austin Black and husband, Cecil, of Fort Worth and Norma Austin Merritt of Arlington; sons, Stanley Ray Austin of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., James M. Austin and wife, Betty, of Fort Worth, Johnnie Lee Austin and wife, Gina, of Fort Worth and Stuart Thomas Austin and wife, Sherry, of Watauga; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
