Born December 29, 1923; Mary died peacefully on February 24, 2009 at Woodcrest Healthcare Center at the Blakeford.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Reedy Otis Johnson and Ethel Camplen Johnson. Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Nathaniel Lee Alley of Smyrna; daughter, Kathryn King Dettwiller (Fred) of Nashville; granddaughters, Jennifer Mathes Baltimore (David) of Franklin and Christin Mathes of Phoenix City, AL; great-grandchildren, Anna Camplen Norris and Hunter Newton Norris, both of Franklin, TN.

A native of Nashville, for many years, she worked in real estate as a broker. She later worked for First American Bank, from which she retired in the early 90's. Mary was known as "Granny" to her grandchildren and her friends. She was a long time member of Bellevue United Methodist Church.

The family would like to give special thanks for the caring and loving staff at Woodcrest and Alive Hospice. Services were held at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Rd., Nashville, TN on March 2, 2009.
