Found in The State 22 October 1922: Mrs. Sarah M. Johnson Altee, widow of the late J. H. Altee, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning at her home, 2200 Lincoln street, after an illness of several months. She was in her 64th year. Eight children survive her: Eugene, Melvin and Leroy Altee of Columbia, Crawford Altee of Atlanta, Mrs. Nathan DuBard and Mrs. P. S. Calvo of Columbia, Mrs. Greer Taylor of Pelion and Mrs. Gertrude Goza of New York city. Mrs. Altee was a faithful member of Green Street Methodist church and will be greatly missed by a large circle of neighbors and friends. The funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Found in The State 23 October 1916 (with parts omitted that are already posted above): Mrs. Sarah Margaret Altee was born November 25, 1858 in Columbia, and died early yesterday morning. She had been in declining health during the past few months and for the past eleven weeks she was unable to leave her bed. She made a brave fight but finally succumbed at 12:30 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Altee, her husband, died January 1, 1916. The duties of the home fell upon her, but she proved equal to them. She was a strong Christian woman, having joined the church when a small girl. She was a faithful, and consistent member of the Green Street Methodist church at the time of her death. She and Mr. Altee were happily married September 20, 1876. To this union were born ten children. Two died in infancy, Edward and Darrell. The following children survive (named above). One sister, Mrs. Mittie Cantrell, and five grandchildren also survive her. Her children, sister, and grandchildren were unusually devoted to her. Never did children try harder to do for mother in her last hours. This was especially noticeable throughout her sickness, but all that loving hands could do did not avail. She died as she had lived, trusting absolutely in Jesus Christ. Her funeral will be conducted in her home, 2200 Lincoln street at 4 o'clock this afternoon by her pastor, the Rev. R. L. Keaton, assisted by the Rev. R. S. Truesdale, D. D., of Main Street Methodist church. Interment will follow in Elmwood cemetery. The pallbearers are as follows: George W. Hough, R. B. McCanley, J. B. Penland, F. S. Carpenter, E. T. Summerland and W. C. Devane.

Per her death certificate found on Ancestry.com: she was a daughter of W. S. Johnson, born in Va., and Mary E. Scott, born in S.C. She was a widow at the time of her death and her certifcate does not name her spouse. She died at 2200 Lincoln St. of cancer of the liver. The informant was Mrs. Phil Altee Calvo of Columbia, S.C.
