Mother Josephine Alexander, 101, of Danville, went to eternal rest with Christ at 12:10 a.m. Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010, at North Logan Healthcare Center.

Josephine Johnson Alexander was born to Richard and Elizabeth Martin Johnson on Feb. 10, 1909, in Jonestown, Mississippi.

Josephine was united in Holy Matrimony to Sang Alexander on July 4, 1930, in Shaw, Mississippi. While in Shaw, Josephine and Sang farmed and reared four children.

Mother Alexander served faithfully at Battle Focus Ministries Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Franklin Bourn. Mother Alexander served on the Mother's Board and loved going to church. Her hobbies included: Bible study, quilting, sewing, cooking and talking about the goodness of God. Mother Alexander will be greatly missed by all.

Mother Alexander leaves to cherish her memory six generations, a daughter, Catherine McGrown; one son, Robert (Glenda) Alexander; 10 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great-grandchildren and numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, friends and her church family. Also treasuring her memory, are her best friends, Frank and Geneva Bourn, and special children, Pastor Franklin and PJ Bourn.

Mother Alexander was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Buddy Alexander; a daughter, Rose Alexander; five sisters; three brothers; a son-in-law, M.C. McGrown; one granddaughter and two grandsons.

Interment: Sanhill Memorial Park
