Twila Maxine "Macky" Foster Westergard, 75, of 1091 Lane Ave. died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1932, in Bushnell, IL to Willy and Erma Chambers Johnson. She married Sala Foster in 1950 but divorced in 1972. He preceded her in death. She married Robert "Bob" Westergard on Aug. 14, 1979. He survives.

She also is survived by one son, Ricky (and Linda) Foster of Abingdon; one brother, Chuck (and Elsie) Johnson of Abingdon; and two sisters, Donna Lane of Galesburg and Karen Lankford of New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bernita Johnson and Sharon Smith; and one brother, Wayne Johnson.

She was a graduate of Abingdon High School and Brown's Business College, where she learned to type 162 words per minute with no errors.

Maxine worked at the Admiral Corporation for more than 20 years. She later worked as an executive secretary for a private business and for attorneys in Texas.

During her years in Abingdon, she was an active member and past president of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381 Auxiliary, past member of the Sunshine Girls, and an active member and officer of numerous bowling leagues. She was a charter member of the Abingdon Historical Society.

Maxine was married to Sala Foster for approximately 22 years. They lived in Abingdon for the majority of those years, where they raised Rick. Maxine later divorced Sala, and set out for adventure in Arkansas and Texas. She met and married Bob Westergard, and they settled in Sachse, Texas, for more than 25 years. They returned to Illinois in July of 2006, due to Maxine's failing health.

Cremation will be accorded. Private burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date.
